ACTIVATED CARBON PROCESS & TYPES In the gas activation process, a previously carbonized material is subjected to the oxidizing action of a stream of gas, such as steam, carbon dioxide, air or a mixture of these. Activation temperatures typically range from 700 to 1.100° C. In the resulting water-gas reaction in the chemical activation process, nonincinerated carbonaceous the material is initially mixed with dehydrating or oxidizing chemicals and heated to between 400 and 800° C.
