Granular activated carbon (GAC) consists of particles that are too large to pass through an 80-mesh sieve. Unlike smaller powdered activated carbon (PAC), granular activated carbon can be used alone rather than solely within a processing machine such as a gravity filter. GAC can also be mixed with a binder and extruded to create evenly sized cylindrical pellets known as extruded activated carbon (EAC).
